About the show

One city, a divided country, and the war that tore America apart… Saigon is an epic saga of love, blood and revolution starring Kelly Marie Tran and Rob Benedict. An eight-part audio drama for iHeart adapted from the best-selling novel by Anthony Grey, it is a story of political intrigue and romance in a time of war, across four tumultuous decades of Vietnamese history. Narrated by Trinh, the granddaughter of two central characters, the series begins in 1936 French-colonial Saigon, where an American journalist, Joseph, reunites with his childhood friend Paul, now a French policeman, and encounters Lan, the woman who will shape his destiny. Against a backdrop of tennis courts, luxury hotels, and colonial privilege, simmering tensions erupt as Lan’s brother Kim rejects his wealthy family’s collaboration with the French to join Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary cause, setting off an assassination that changes everything. As love, betrayal, and shifting allegiances entangle Joseph, Lan, Paul, and Kim, the drama follows them through World War II, Japanese occupation, the rise of Vietnamese nationalism, and America’s war in Vietnam, tracing how personal passions and family loyalties are swept into the tides of history.
